#1 Website Goal

I’m here today to share a little-known fact about good website planning. This is a key item, and must be included in your marketing plan!

When I work with clients on their websites, my first question is, “What is your #1 Website Goal…the most desired response your site could bring you?” Frequently, they’ve never thought of it in quite that way before.

Here are some of the possible #1 Website Goals:

• prospects call you to discuss your services or product
• prospects sign up for your newsletter and /or blog
• prospects buy on the site right away

Can sites have a #2 response? Certainly.

A common #2 (or even #3) desired response is to provide information. In-depth information will be relevant to both current and prospective clients. Providing basic, key information can save you lots of time, help potential clients pre-qualify themselves, or even make your sale. It certainly warms up prospects, and makes it easier for them to trust you. All very, very good results!

Having a clearly defined #1 goal is essential. If you don’t know what you want people to do on your site, then visitors won’t know, either. Prospects usually don’t just show up and give themselves a tour. Rather you tell them what you want them to see and do.

Currently, people have information overload. It’s more important then ever to tell people where to go and what to do on your site, or people will just go away.

Taking charge makes a difference to your website results and your sales.

Next time I’ll show you what taking charge looks like.
